Two stars of The Big Bang Theory are back together again. The reunion comes five years after The Big Bang Theory ended its run in 2019.
On her Instagram Stories, Kaley Cuoco (Penny) shared an image of herself with Jim Parsons (Sheldon). In the picture, Cuoco is hugging Parsons, who’s now sporting a full beard. Along with sharing the photo, Cuoco also wrote, “I surprised him. Go see Jim Parsons in [Our Town on Broadway]! It is beyond!” The photo can be seen below.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Creator Confirms Bad News for Young Sheldon Fans
Young Sheldon fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for certain expectations.
The two haven’t shared the screen since The Big Bang Theory ended, though Cuoco had a voice cameo in the first season of Young Sheldon shortly after the end of the spinoff’s parent series. Parsons served as the narrator of the show, providing the voice of the older Sheldon Cooper. In the series finale of Young Sheldon earlier this year, Parsons physically appeared as Sheldon in the present day, joined by Mayim Bialik also returning to reprise her role as Amy. Sheldon mentioned Cuoco’s Penny during the special appearance.

10 Most Surprising Guest Stars in The Big Bang Theory (Who Only Appeared Once)
From James Earl Jones to Mark Hamill, The Big Bang Theory has featured plenty of famous faces, who made a huge splash as a one-time guest star.
After Young Sheldon ended, the franchise continued with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, the sequel series that debuted in October. It’s not known at this time if any stars of The Big Bang Theory will make a special appearance on that show, but with Sheldon Cooper no longer the main focus, it doesn’t seem very likely. The new spinoff has found success with its own characters, and there hasn’t been so much as a cameo from Iain Armitage’s Sheldon as of yet.
Meanwhile, it remains possible that Parsons and Cuoco could have an on-screen reunion as Sheldon and Penny one day. For the streaming platform Max, a Big Bang Theory spinoff series is currently in development. According to reports, the spinoff will be set in the comic book store that was frequented by the characters in The Big Bang Theory. That leaves the door wide open for potential cameos from different cast members from the original show. However, Parsons has already cast doubt on revisiting the Sheldon role after his return in the Young Sheldon finale.
“Look, never say never to anything,” Parsons said about a possible return as Sheldon while on the red carpet at the Drama League Awards. “Life is long, God willing. But I don’t think so.”

Meanwhile, Cuoco has made it very clear she’d be happy to return as Penny.
“I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career,” she said, per People. “I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre. It was some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had. I would absolutely reprise that role. 100%. I love that character, and I always will.”
