Fans of the Boston Celtics might be up for a treat at tonight’s tilt against the Los Angeles Clippers at TD Garden. We are hearing rumbles that injured Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis will make his debut for the 2024-25 regular season with the Celtics against the Clippers. Per Celtics Wire’s Cameron Tabatabaie, “Porzingis intends to play tonight for the Celtics.”
Porzingis, who has been out of commission with a rare foot injury sustained in the 2024 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, has been traveling with the team in recent weeks and ramping up the intensity and visibility of his on-court preparations to return to the team. This sort of thing is typically a sign that a player out for an extended period of time with a serious injury is nearing a return to play.
There is always a chance for a setback before Porzingis takes the court, given Boston will take the utmost care the Latvian center does not re-injure himself. But given L.A.’s limited size in the frontcourt, this would be an ideal contest to bring KP back.
I was just told on good authority Kristaps Porzingis intends to play tonight for the Celtics
