KENNESAW, Ga. – One of the most anticipated home games in Kennesaw State men’s basketball history is here, as the Owls are ready to take the national stage when they host No. 24 Rutgers on Sunday afternoon. The game tips off at 1 p.m. in the Convocation Center and broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
A FEW NOTES
♦ The Scarlet Knights become the first-ever ranked team to visit the Convo, while it will also be the first-ever regular season game broadcast nationally from the Convocation Center.
♦ The Owls are looking for their first-ever win over a ranked team. They are 0-16 all-time against teams in the AP Top 25. The last ranked team they played was No. 13 Xavier, a 71-67 loss in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. This is the second time KSU has played the No. 24 team in the nation, the first was against No. 24 Texas Tech on Dec. 13, 2017, an 82-53 loss in Lubbock.
♦ The Owls are flying in Coach Pettway’s second year with the Black and Gold, as they currently rank 12th in the nation in scoring at 91.4 points per game. KSU is also owning the boards, ranking second in rebounds per game (47.4) and seventh in rebound margin (+14.2). From three-point land, KSU is 15th in three-point field goals per game (11.2).
♦ KSU is 1-43 all-time against teams currently in the Power Four conferences. The one win came at home over Georgia Tech by an 80-63 score on Nov. 15, 2010, which is also the last time the Yellow Jackets made the trip to Kennesaw.
♦ This is the fourth straight year KSU has faced a team from the Big Ten, after Nebraska (2021-22) and Indiana (2022-23 and 2023-24). KSU is 0-12 all-time against the Big Ten.
