Predators trade Philip Tomasino to Penguins for 2027 4th round pick

The Nashville Predators have traded Philip Tomasino to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.

The fourth round pick was originally owned by the New York Rangers. The Predators now have eight picks in the 2027 draft.

Tomasino, 23, was the Predators’ first round pick in 2019 (No. 24 overall) out of Niagara (OHL). He made his NHL debut on Oct. 14, 2021 against Seattle, the first of 159 games with the Predators. He scored 23 goals and 48 assists in his time with Nashville.

Originally seen as a potential top-six forward for the Predators, Tomasino spent much of the last two seasons in Milwaukee. At the end of the 2023-24 season, coach Andrew Brunette said Tomasino had some work to do to get back in the Predators’ lineup.

Tomasino signed a one-year contract as a restricted free agent in the offseason. He started the season in Nashville out of training camp, but played in just 11 of the team’s 21 games, tallying one assist.

Tomasino now join the Pittsburgh Penguins, who also acquired former Predators’ forward Cody Glass over the summer.
